Oil filter principle and classification

The oil filter unit is a filter unit that removes solid impurities and moisture in impure oil by means of pressure filtration or vacuum evaporation-pressure filtration. The oil filter is mainly used to improve the insulation performance of electrical oil and the purity of lubricating oil. The four main classifications of oil filter are: ordinary oil filter, vacuum oil filter, centrifugal oil filter, gearbox dialysis machine, according to the different oil products and application places, you can choose to buy the corresponding oil filter products .

1. Ordinary oil filter

It consists of primary filter, oil pump and filtering device. The primary filter is a cylindrical metal mesh, which prevents larger solid particles in the impure oil from entering the oil pump. The oil pump, usually a gear pump, delivers impure oil to the filter unit. The filter device is a small hand-pressed plate and frame filter press, with special filter paper as the filter medium. The impure oil enters the plate and frame filter press under the pressure of the oil pump, and passes through the filter paper to become filter oil. The solid impurities in the oil are trapped on the surface of the filter paper, and a small amount of water is absorbed by the capillary pores of the filter paper. Filtration pressure is usually not greater than 0.3 MPa. When there are too many impurities deposited on the surface of the filter paper and the filtration pressure rises to 0.35 MPa, or when the moisture absorbed by the filter paper is close to saturation and the residual moisture in the filter oil is no longer reduced, the machine should be shut down to replace the filter paper. When the viscosity of the oil is high, it can be preheated to reduce the viscosity before filtering. This oil filter can only remove solid impurities and a small amount of water, and is suitable for the purification of general electrical oil and lubricating oil. When the oil contains too much water and impurities, it must be pretreated before being sent to the oil filter. The processing capacity of ordinary oil purifiers is 25-200 liters per minute. The square filter frame of the filter device has two inner side lengths of 200 mm and 250 mm. Filter plates and frames are made of cast iron or polypropylene.

2. Vacuum oil filter
Including primary filter, vacuum evaporation tank, oil pump, filter device, condenser (ie condenser) and vacuum pump and other parts (see figure). Under the action of atmospheric pressure, the impure oil enters the vacuum evaporation tank through the primary filter. After the oil is heated to over 100°C, it is sprayed into the vacuum chamber and becomes fine oil droplets. The water in the oil quickly evaporates into water vapor, enters the condenser to condense and then discharges. Uncondensed water vapor is exhausted to the atmosphere by the vacuum pump. Collected at the bottom of the vacuum evaporation tank, the evaporated and dehydrated oil is pumped into the filter device to filter out solid impurities in the oil and further absorb trace moisture. The vacuum oil filter can significantly improve the effect of removing moisture in the oil, and is suitable for the purification of oil for high-voltage electrical appliances. The emerging molecular oil purifier also uses electrostatic separation and resin adsorption technology to remove deteriorated oil molecules, so that the insulating oil is highly purified and the insulation performance is improved.
